Music artists are forced to be part of and embrace shows like The X Factor, singer Paloma Faith has claimed. Describing the music industry as ‘completely run by television’, Faith revealed that artists simply cannot turn down the chance to promote their work in front of 14 million viewers.
Three piece girl band Miss Fitz are to compete in a BBC reality show to represent the UK in this year’s Eurovision song contest. The girl group wowed the judges in this year’s auditions with their version of Britney Spears’ Toxic and were hotly tipped to be one of the best groups the show has had.
Louis Walsh has said he’s too busy to take part in The X Factor USA although admitted he hadn’t actually been asked to take part in the series. Simon Cowell is to launch The X Factor in the states in the autumn of 2011 and is said to be naming the panel sometime later this year.
The X Factor auditions are to return to Ireland for the first time in four years, according to tabloid reports. Irish auditions were scrapped in 2006 followed by the blocking of Irish residents from voting in 2008 after a number of TV voting scandals. However the success of John and Edward means that producers want the show to return and hold open auditions for this year’s series.
The X Factor judge Simon Cowell has admitted he is sometimes ‘absolutely appalled’ when watching the show back, saying his comments sometimes can go too far. Speaking to his Britain’s Got Talent colleague Piers Morgan, Cowell also said he sometimes found the show ‘very difficult to watch’ with his comments.
X Factor 2009 finalist Lucie Jones is to record on a charity record to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. The 18-year-old will join Kym Marsh, Danielle Lloyd, Sonique and actress Caroline Quentin among others on the track, a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s track Girls Just Wanna Have Fun which will be released April 26.
Sharon Osbourne has launched another verbal attack on X Factor judge Dannii Minogue, saying the Aussie should ‘get a life and move on’ from their much publicised feud. Osbourne made the comments after being told that Dannii is planning to release an autobiography later this year, detailing her time on The X Factor.

The planned 2010 series of The X Factor is said to be ‘up in the air’ as the judges’ personal lives and careers take turns which could result in a completely new panel. Dannii Minogue previously confirmed she would be not be able to attend the live auditions this year, and fellow judge Cheryl Cole may miss some dates due to her UK and European tour with the Black Eyed Peas.
