Danyl 'resolves two year feud' with father

X Factor finalist Danyl Johnson has just resolved a two-year feud with his father according to a report in today’s Mirror newspaper. Danyl’s dad Owen McCubbin revealed that the pair have been arguing for the past two years because he refused to sell the family home following his split from Danyl’s mum Maria Burgess.

However, following his X Factor appearance, the pair are now working on their relationship. Owen told Closer magazine: “We’re getting on a lot better now, the rift is healing.

“I’m so pleased I’ve got my son back in my life and I’m sure he’ll go all the way on The X Factor.”

Danyl’s mum however has lashed out, saying that her kids were “angry” with Owen for his behaviour following their break-up. “Danyl’s dad behaved in a very silly way over tying up the loose ends of our marriage. The whole episode left the kids quite angry with him.

“If Danyl has started speaking to him again, that’s between him and his father but we don’t discuss it.”

  1. I have read various accounts of Danyl’s behavior by different performers on the show. I also read where Simon thinks there is some type of conspiracy against Danyl by the other judges. Danyl certainly presents himself as a nice guy, but there’s something else obviously going on — I’m just not sure what. Is Kandy Rain correct? It’s gotten to the point that even a story like this makes me wonder if it is here to present Danyl in a more human or compassionate light. I thoroughy enjoyed his audition and thought he was going to be good (and he is). However, having Simon on your side is not always in one’s favor. While there are many guesses as to why Adam Lambert lost American Idol last year, I think it is pretty simple. It was a backlash on Simon who felt the need to TELL people who they should vote for and basically were stupid if they didn’t — much like when he lectured the judges and audience the other night on what the competition is about when he bullied Cheryl because she didn’t stand up when Danyl finished and wasn’t happy with the panel’s overall lack of praise. It appears the judges were more correct than he was since Danyl landed in the bottom two. The whole scenario is a bit odd but by not getting the show in America I am left to only guess what may be going on here. That is why I like reading the comments so much. I really have no doubt the British audience can make up its mind with or without Simon and the other judges.
