A pal has revealed that Jamie ‘Afro’ Archer has threatened to quit the show as the relationship between him and his mentor Simon Cowell hits new lows. Two weeks ago Simon changed his song at the last minute and now Jamie feels Simon is giving him poor songs to give an advantage to Danyl and Olly.
Jamie’s threat comes after producers banned him from going on tour with US rock group Bon Jovi, who invited him to join them after appearing on the show last weekend. X Factor bosses blocked the move due to the contract Jamie is currently under.
The pal told The Sun: “Jamie’s fed up with the competition and how Simon is treating him.
“He was on the verge of quitting at the weekend because he was so angry at being given rubbish songs and some judges’ comments. He hasn’t forgiven Simon for changing his song.
“Their relationship is not great. There were already serious cracks but now it’s more like the Grand Canyon.”
A friend added: “Jon Bon Jovi came up to him after the Sunday show, told him he liked him and offered him a support act role on the tour.
“Jamie was thrilled but his contract means he is tied to X Factor and wouldn’t be able to do it. He was absolutely gutted and it made for a tense week between him and Simon.
“He feels Simon gives him rubbish songs to make people vote for Olly Murs and Danyl Johnson. He calmed down and decided to stay as he realised it’s incredible exposure.”

Jamie will never get a support act on a tour. By the time he has finished with the X-Factor and its tour, HE will be the one offering support spots on HIS shows and tours.
Jamie, if ever by some weird accident you ever read this, keep yourself right in the limelight for your existing fans, and to convince others, “Traffic Warden” Walsh excepted, that they should join the “Flow with the ‘Fro!!!
You are the most professional singer there has ever been on X-factor this early in the finals, and you are improving every week if due allowance is made for the Angel Of Harlem curve-ball Simon pitched at you. I listen to your X-Factor songs the same way I listen to any of my CDs, and I WANT MORE!!!
Trust Simon, please. He is relentless and remorseless dealing with people he perceives are “against” him; you do not need to be in that case this early in your career. But Simon is just as relentless when working for one of his artists. Look at how he positioned Paul Potts for Paul to become a world-wide star. You don’t have any of the training Paul sort of cobbled together for himself, but I sincerely believe you are already at a point far nearer success than Paul was when he won Britain’s Got Talent.
You don’t need to fall in love with Simon: you just have to be utterly professional, entirely focused on your career to get the best out of him. “It ain’t personal. It’s just business!” I was going to finish with “Good Luck!!!”, but in your case the luck component has already worked out well. All you need now is to keep your existing and future fans right behind you, waving their plastic to get their copies of your albums and tickets to your shows.
Eyes on the prize, Jamie, eyes on the prize! For you that may not mean winning X-Factor, but you will be the biggest, maybe only, real world success from all X-Factor ’09. Take inspiration from Chris Daughtry, the most successful “non-winner” on American Idol since Jennifer Hudson, and a real rocker even in the slower tempos, just like you, (and, exactly like you, a real man, not just a “male aged 18 or more”).
Flow with the ‘Fro!!!
Wise words!
