X factor to get Britain's Got Talent revamp

Simon Cowell

Speaking to GMTV Simon Cowell has revealed this year’s auditions will be held in front of a live audience, the same way as Britain’s Got Talent auditions are currently held.

Cowell said the change would provide a “boost for performers” as they performed in front of the judges and the crowd, adding that the format would help contestants as they would have an audience supporting them. Cowell also denied critic’s views that the changes would make the X Factor show too similar to Britain’s Got Talent which finished last month.

Cowell also talked about rumoured tensions between judges Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue, “Well, look, girls are girls. They always want to be the centre of attention. I don’t think anyone has ended up as best friends but they don’t hate each other. Actually, no, I think they like each other now.”

The first live audition show is to held on Monday, June 22 in London at 1pm with further shows planned for Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow and Manchester. Tickets can be applied for by fans by the online ticket website, ApplauseStore
