The live results shows have been moved to the Sunday after the shows in order to bring in more cash, it has been claimed. The move puts the show in direct competition with the Strictly Come Dancing results show which is also held on Sunday evenings.
According to The Mirror, the move has been made in the hope that the extra day of voting will help boost calls to the premium-rate lines and also increase advertising revenue for struggling ITV.
A show insider told the paper, “Lines will open during the show on Saturday and won’t close until the results on Sunday, which means lots of extra cash,” adding, “It sounds like a lot of money in the current financial climate but X Factor is one of the jewels in ITV’s crown. It is guaranteed ratings gold.” According to the paper the judges will be paid an extra £100,000 for the extra live show.
