Sir Paul McCartney lined up for live final

Sir Paul McCartney

There have been quite a few rumours about who will be appearing in this year’s live final, we’ve heard everyone from Lady GaGa to George Michael but another name has today come to light: Sir Paul McCartney. The former Beatles star is in talks to appear on the December 13th results show.

According to a report in The Mirror, if Macca agrees to perform the finale night theme will be Beatles week – originally planned for this week.

An insider told the paper: “The big plan by Simon Cowell is to get Sir Paul for the final, which would be just fantastic.

“Everybody knows the Beatles wrote some of the best songs in history so it would be a sensational end for the series.”

After the multiple theme changes this week, Simon finally settled on Wham/George Michael songs for the finalists to sing during tonight’s show. Tomorrow, Mariah Carey and Susan Boyle will perform their latest singles – although both have already pre-recorded their performances.
