Leona: Show not about singing anymore

Leona Lewis

X Factor 2006 winner Leona Lewis has revealed she doesn’t think the show is about singing anymore, just entertainment. Speaking to News Of The World, Lewis complained talented vocalists had left the competition over poorer singers.

“It’s more of an entertainment show now. It’s a TV show and they want their entertainment value,” the 24-year-old said.

“It’s not just about singing really well any more.”

She continued: “When I was on the show in 2006 it was only about the singing. We were lucky if we got some good lights. I can’t believe how much it has changed.

“There are some talented singers still in the mix this year. But it also means some talented people have gone, which is sad.

“I actually thought that Rachel Adedeji and Lucie Jones had the strongest voices out of the girls – and they’ve both gone.”

Leona released her second album since winning the show last week.
