Cheryl Cole is reportedly close to signing a multimillion pound deal which would see her leave The X Factor UK after this year’s series to start on the US version, which launches next autumn. After announcing her divorce from footballer husband Ashley Cole yesterday, it is said Cheryl wants a new start it the states.
Cole has been in talks with Simon Cowell and US show producers for a number of weeks, according to London’s Evening Standard.
A source told the paper: “Cheryl is very close to signing a deal worth millions with Simon.
“Ashley has been the major factor holding her back.
“But now she will be free to pursue her career in America, where Simon is convinced she could be a huge star.”
The source added: “Cowell has been trying very hard to get her to sign up for the new show, and will now feel he has a very good chance of getting her to commit.”
Other names linked to the new US version of the show include Mel B, Mariah Carey and Hilary Duff.
