Dannii Minogue is to be ditched as an X Factor judge in this year’s series, a report has claimed. The Aussie judge, who is expecting her first child in the summer, is said to lose her job on the panel when Simon and producers meet up to discuss the new series in LA this week.
Minogue has already confirmed she will not be taking part in the audition stages of the show due to her pregnancy, but insisted she would still like to be a part of the show in some capacity.
Sources told the Daily Star however that it was “highly unlikely” she would return as a judge and instead the panel would return to just three as in the earlier series.
An insider said: “Simon and his team are very wary of getting into the sort of problems the BBC has had with its female stars over age and so on.
“For that reason, the best option is being seen as reverting to the three judges this year.
“That means the seat is open for Dannii to return at a future date, although it is unlikely.”
Executive producer Richard Holloway said the meeting would “kickstart debate about new ideas for the show” and added “it will be up to Simon and the show’s producers to determine [Dannii]‘s role.”
An X Factor spokeswoman confirmed: “There is a meeting going on but it is too early to comment on what is being decided.”
