Olly, Stacey and Danyl won't get Syco record deals

Simon Cowell

X Factor finalists Olly, Stacey and Danyl will not be getting recording contracts with Simon Cowell’s Syco label, it has been revealed. Syco has the first choice to sign any of the final 4 contestants but instead has chosen to focus on winner Joe McElderry, however it’s not all over for the runners up as they’ve been contracted to play Butlins over the summer…

All of the final 10 contestants will play gigs at the holiday resort from February through til October, and the final 8 will also be earning £100,000 from The X Factor tour which starts later next month, but they won’t be getting record contracts from Simon.

“He doesn’t have anything against the guys but wants to concentrate on turning Joe McElderry into a star,” a source told News Of The World.

A spokeswoman for Cowell’s label Syco told the paper: “We never guarantee contracts for anyone other than the X Factor winner and this year we’ve decided to focus on Joe.

“However, we understand there is interest in other finalists from many parts of the musical industry and we hope they all do very well.”

Even though Syco may not be offering any contracts, there is still a chance that other labels will pick up the acts. Last year’s runners up JLS signed to Epic and fourth place Diana Vickers was signed up by RCA records.
