Radio 1′s Edith Bowman has likened The X Factor to a conveyor belt, saying there is a lack of time, effort and energy put into the reality shows winners. In the recent interview, Bowman also criticised the contestants, saying they were hoping for fame and fortune, rather than because they wanted to become talented musicians.
Strictly Come Dancing presenter Bruce Forsyth has revealed, perhaps unsurprisingly, he is not a fan of rival reality TV show The X Factor. Speaking to The Mirror, Forsyth claimed the show could be embarrassing and was too over the top, comparing it to a fireworks display at times.
Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise has reportedly begged X Factor judge Louis Walsh for a ticket to the live shows this year. Pop Idol and Popstars judge Pete Waterman has revealed he doesn’t believe Simon is interested in talent anymore. Writing in today’s Daily Mail, Waterman added that none of this year’s finalists have ‘The X Factor’.
Amy Winehouse loves Stacey Solomon and has a soft spot for Essex boy Olly Murs, according to her dad, Mitch Winehouse. Mitch however revealed that he was backing bookies favourite Joe McElderry to win the show this weekend.
X Factor creative director Brian Friedman has said he thinks Olly will win, but he’d be happy for either Olly or Joe to win this year’s show, poor Stacey! Brian also revealed that Olly has lots of dance routines in this week’s final show and hints that there’ll be plenty of surprises for viewers.
Soul singer Seal has questioned shows such as The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, saying that the winners aren’t after musical success but rather a quick path to fame and fortune. Seal did however admit that Britain’s Got Talent runner up Susan Boyle was “an exception”.
Last year’s X Factor winner has revealed she believes this year’s winner will be either Olly Murs or Danyl Johnson. The Bad Boys singer has dismissed the fact that both have been in the bottom two which, based on previous series, would indicated neither can win.
